About
Christy Brown is the senior director at the Silsbee Economic Development Corporation (EDC). She received a bachelors of arts in Communications from Baylor University. During summer 2018, I interned for Mrs. Brown at the EDC. Focused on my interests in marketing and communications, I helped redesign the EDC’s website, created new marketing material, shadowed an expert in the field, and performed other office jobs.
I chose to interview Mrs. Brown to receive her criticism on my website. We agreed to interview in person on Friday, April 12th, 2019 at 10:00pm.
Interview Experience

Overall the interview went very well. I presented my product website to her and received her criticism. She and I discussed the skills I have learned at the EDC and how I have expanded on them during the GT Independent Course.

We juxtaposed the methods of marketing that have evolved over the generations and how elements of traditional and postmodern marketing can combine to become even more effective.

She reminded me of the different "hats" marketers have; marketers can be "attorneys, relators, advertisers, accountants, etc." and need to incorporate skills of each job to be successful and flexible.
