Third Six Weeks

Process Log #1

I have accomplished many of my goals the last few weeks. I had the pleasure of interviewing the marketing manager of Colourpop Cosmetics, Jordynn Wynn, on Wednesday, November 20th. The interview was very informative, and I greatly enjoyed working with her. Not only has she agreed to be my mentor for this project, but she offered a great idea for my project. Jordynn said that she would appreciate a sustainable platform that connects the brands with influencer to set up sponsorships. I connected her ideas with the lack of representation towards the cruelty free community, as informed from my interview with Justin Mendez, the PR manager of Logical Harmony. He agreed that there is not a platform that focuses on connections between cruelty free brands and influencers. I would like to merge the two wholes in the industry to create a website and/or app that allows brands and influencers to create sponsorships on various social media platforms. I also interviewed the Director of Talent Acquisition from Too Faced Cosmetics, Amber Costello, whom works with influencers around the world to develop relationships with the brand, and she agreed that a platform like the one I am considering would not only be helpful for business relationships but promote the ethics of the cruelty free community.

Process Log #2

Most of my time has been spent updating my website, working on my APA paper, and researching the best options for a cruelty-free sponsorship platform. I am hoping to receive a few more interviews so I can receive a more well-rounded perspective that would benefit the beauty industry the most. I have reached out to various influencers of various sizes to receive their perspective on the industry and what would benefit them on a sponsorship platform. I have heard back from Kelly Gooch, an influencer on Youtube and Instagram with 36,000 subscribers. I have created a google form questionnaire for her to fill out that I sent out on December 19th.  I have also reached out for an interview with Madison Franco, the video content editor at Lamar University. We are scheduled to interview on January 2nd. I am also finalizing my mentorships with Jordynn Wynn and Madison Franco. I believe Jordynn will offer a well-rounded perspective into the mainstream beauty industry, as her brand is based in California. We will have most of our mentor meetings over FaceTime or email. Since she is such a busy individual, I have also asked Madison Franco to be my mentor as well. With her experience as an editor for multiple websites, I believe she will offer me some ideas that will be beneficial in website design. Since she is also based in Texas, we will be able to have in-person mentor meetings.
